Dr. Patel's early days began with a degree in Operations Management Information Systems before he pursued a career in healthcare for personal reasons. He started as a hospitalist director at a critical access hospital immediately after completing his residency and has been serving rural communities ever since.

Dr. Patel founded Beam in late 2013 following a near-death experience. The goal was to provide the highest level of care and reduce unnecessary patient transfers by leveraging technology such as telemedicine, supported by operational efficiency and quality on the backend.

Ultimately, the aim was to simplify healthcare with a common-sense approach.
